Chain Gang ("the Game," "we," "us") is a free browser-based sports trivia game available at chainganggame.com. This policy explains what information is collected when you play and how it's used.
Chain Gang does not require an account, a login, or any personal information to play. We do not operate a server-side database of players or their activity. Your in-progress game state (the current puzzle, your guesses, and which tab you last had open) is saved only in your own browser's local storage, on your own device, so you can resume where you left off. That data never leaves your device and is not visible to us.
If you use the Feedback form on the Contact page, the topic and message you write are sent directly to thechainganggame@gmail.com through a third-party form-delivery service (Web3Forms) — nothing opens on your device, and no separate email app is involved. That service receives only what you type into the form; it's used solely to relay your message and isn't used for advertising or tracking. Don't include anything in your message you wouldn't want emailed, since it's delivered as-is.
Chain Gang may display advertising served by Google AdSense (or a similar third-party ad network) to help keep the game free. These networks may use cookies, device identifiers, or similar technologies to serve ads and measure their performance, and may collect information about your visits to this and other websites. We do not control this data collection directly; it is governed by the ad network's own privacy policy.
We may use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics (for example, to see how many people played a given day's puzzle) that do not identify you individually. If that ever changes to include identifying analytics, this policy will be updated first.
Chain Gang is a general-audience sports trivia game and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the game has no accounts or logins and stores game progress only on your own device, we do not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.
Since your saved progress lives only in your browser's local storage, you can delete it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for chainganggame.com, or by using your browser's private / incognito mode.
If this policy changes — for example, if we add an ad network, analytics provider, or any account features — we'll update this page and change the "Last updated" date above.
